SESSION NOTES: OCTOBER 2014
Another busy month here at 11th Street Studios, as producer Blac Elvis‘s grind continues in Studio B, booking 17 days to work with his stable of Mars On Sunday artists, including Pippy Thomas and Charmaine. Felicia King also came in a few days to write as well.
Polo Grounds/ Capitol Records artist Diamond stayed busy in the studio this month, booking 3 sessions in Studio A and 2 more in Studio C. The former Crime Mob member, and current star of Oxygen‘s Sisterhood of Hip Hop worked with engineer Steve Fisher to record some new material for her upcoming mixtape. Fisher recorded and mixed the TM88 produced single “Trap Girl Rollie”, which was released a few days later. Bases Loaded/ eOne artist Ca$h Out came thru one of the sessions to drop a feature.
NNTME MuCo. songwriter Felisha King booked 4 days in Studio C plus 2 more days in Studio B with producer B Harv creating the music, and Quick handling the engineering duties. Meanwhile her sister and fellow NNTME songwriter Fallon King also booked 2 days in Studio B to work with producer Chris Carter, with engineer Dan Cahill at the console. NNTME A&R Mathias Sorum attended the sessions.
Mix engineer Edward “UK” Nixon spent 5 days in Studio A to begin mixing a 13-song album for rapper/ actor Astro (The Astronomical Kid). A former Epic Records artist and “X-Factor” season 1 finalist, the 18-year old Astro is currently in Atlanta filming a major motion picture. The critically acclaimed album, entitled “Computer Era” will be released independently on Grade A Tribe Records next month.
Atlanta’s own 808 Mafia booked 4 days in Studio A this month as Southside, TM88, and others worked on an upcoming 808 Mafia album to be released on the record label Brick Squad Monopoly. Queso engineered the sessions.
CKP booked 2 days in Studio C for their G.O.O.D. Music/ Def Jam recording artist CyHi the Prynce to continue working on his upcoming mixtape.
Love & Hip Hop Atlanta star and Chinga Chang/ Sony Records artist Lil’ Scrappy booked a day in Studio A to work on some new material with producer Drumma Boy for his upcoming mixtape, with Pat engineering. Fellow rap artists Problem and Travis Porter attended the session to collaborate.
Need More Entertainment and South Carolina rap artist Country C came into Studio A to get Young Money/ Cash Money/ Universal Records singer Shanell to drop a feature, with Steve Fisher engineering. A1 Records boss Rocko also booked Studio A to get some work done, with Kirk Lindsay engineering the session.
Freebandz artist and Baltimore rapper Test booked a session in Studio C to work with engineer EJ Washington. Fellow Freebandz affilliate and Baltimore native YGG Tay booked 3 days in Studio C, with EJ again engineering.
A host of independent artists rounded out the month. Pop artist Richie Nuzz booked a session in Studio C with engineer Dan Cahill, while Epic Pro also booked a session in Studio C. Q Heff booked a day in Studio C, while rapper Big D also booked a day in Studio C, our engineer EJ Washington ran both sessions. All Nite Mike booked 2 sessions in Studio A with their engineer Ray.
